What insurers actually ask for
Specialty collectibles insurers don't usually want a professional valuation for a card collection — they want your own maintained inventory. Collectibles Insurance Services puts it plainly: a schedule or appraisal is not required for most items, but "you are responsible for maintaining your own inventory." American Collectors asks for "a detailed inventory of your items, including their estimated value" when you get a quote. The thresholds the schedule flags
Around $2,000 per item, specialty insurers start scheduling items individually (and coverage like mysterious-disappearance may depend on it). Around $25,000, per-item scheduling becomes standard. Individual items above $100,000 are where formal appraisals enter the conversation. Your schedule flags every line that crosses these bands, so the conversation with your insurer starts from the right numbers. Where the values come from
If your export already carries values (Collectr exports do), those are used as-is and labeled as your app's values. For TCGplayer app exports — which carry no prices — the tool matches your cards against a dated snapshot of TCGplayer market prices (via the public tcgcsv mirror) for the exact printing, and every page of the schedule states the valuation date. Values are marketplace-sourced estimates for documentation purposes — this is an inventory, not an appraisal.
